The 2025 Amateur Cool Runnings Slalom at Port Gamble Ride Park is your chance to race down one of the park’s most iconic black diamond trail! Designed for Cat 1 and advanced Cat 2 riders (aka EXPERTS), this event is packed with high-speed berms, fast drops, and the adrenaline rush you live for. Whether you're chasing a personal best or just out to have a blast with friends, it’s the perfect mix of competition, fun, and an unbeatable thrill of the trail. Give it your best effort and enjoy some of the finest built turns around!

Slalom SESSION
Key Details:
Session Duration: 2 hours. Only your best time counts.
Rider Limit: 50 riders maximum.
Skill Level: Must be comfortable on black expert trails (high-speed corners, drops, jumps).
E-Bike Policy: Motors must be off to race.
Packet Pickup:
Friday: 12:45 PM
Saturday: 8:30 AM
Location: Top of Cool Runnings trail
How It Works:
Chip Timing: You’ll get a timing chip at registration. Only your fastest lap will count towards the leaderboard.
Beacons: Your time will only be recorded if you cross both the start and finish beacons. Ensure you pass both to log a valid lap.
Interval Starts: Riders are recommended to start 30 seconds apart, but you can start at any time and in any order. Feel free to ride together with friends or do train runs, just make sure to leave safe spacing between riders.
Best Lap Wins: Your fastest lap is your official time. Tiebreaker: Second-fastest lap.
Crashes/Delays: Brief delays may occur. Marshals will clear the course quickly. Thanks for being flexible.
What to Expect:
Run Duration: 1-2 minutes per lap with a 10-15 minute walk-back.
Runs: Expect 4-6 runs in 2 hours, plus 30 minutes for sight lap before the session.
Wait Time: Expect 0-10 minutes between runs.
Rules:
Timing Chip Required: Must be worn on the on right wrist.
Course Closure: The Cool Runnings trail is closed to non-racers from 9 AM - 12 PM.
Course Navigation: Stay on the taped route. Re-enter at the point you exited if you go off-course.
Sportsmanship: Disqualification for poor sportsmanship or cheating.
Podium & Prizes:
Top 3 in each category will receive awards.
Awards Ceremony: 4:45 PM at Top Gun Zone.
Food trucks: open till 7pm

Age Categories:
U15 – Youth (Boys): Riders under 15, comfortable on expert trails.
16-18 – Junior Experts (Boys & Girls): Riders under 18, expert trail riders.
18-29 – Adults (Men & Women): Speedy and skillful riders.
30+ – Adults (Men): Experienced riders with technical expertise.
Categories with fewer than 3 riders may be combined.

Test your limits, and have tons of fun on the legendary Cool Runnings Slalom course. Full-suspension trail bike, full-face helmet, goggles, and protective gear are recommended.

12:45 PM - 3:00 PM - Amateur Slalom plate pick up at Cool Runnings trailhead.
SAT, 31th May
8:30 AM - Amateur Slalom packet pick up at Cool Runnings trail head
9:00 AM – 9:30 AM - Amateur Slalom Sight Lap- Get a run or two down the course to check conditions and learn the features. (number plate required)
9:45 AM - Slalom – Mandatory Rider Meeting
10:00 AM- 12:00 PM - Cool Runnings AMATEUR SLALOM SESSION /Race
Two hours of timing, best run counts. Ride solo or train with friends, just give enough space for a clear run. Spacing is on you. Cap at 65 riders for quality.
4:45 PM - PODIUMS - Cool Runnings Pro and Amateur Slalom Top 3 podium presentation at Top Gun Zone.
